Finance Interview For MBA freshers

In this post we are going to discuss about the interview process and how the interview questions will be for MBA finance freshers and how their preparation should be to get through them. The main focus in this post will be on technical rounds conducted by the companies for finance freshers.

The first round will be Technical round where most of the questions will be in multiple choice. In some companies you need to get 90% correct of the given questions, in some you may have to cross only above 50%, it varies from company to company, so better clarify this with the HR before you start attempting the paper, based on that you can assign timing for each section in the written test. I suggest what ever be the criteria always prepare in a way so that you could answer 90% correct answers.

The questions will test your basic knowledge like accounting equation to very complex questions like finding out ratios using formulas. So be prepared for everything. Sometimes you may not have the negative, please confirm it with the HR and if so mark all the answers before you leave so that some of the answers may become correct. Another issue with the multiple choice questions there will be more scope for the examiner to confuse you by giving similar options in the multiple choice, so you should be crystal clear with the answer, so I suggest you to assess the answer immediately only to read the question and then check for your answer in the multiple choice, but be careful here and read all answers if though your answer might appear at the first, because there is every chance that the other answers are also same and the final answer would be D. All of the above. Check twice the answer you marked as there is every chance that you make mistake for questions for which even you know the answer.

Once you successfully complete the written test then the next round is going to be first technical round where they test your overall knowledge in finance by asking only the definitions. Here they done go much deep into the subject, they simply ask you like what is depreciation? or what is a dividend?. To clear this know you should at-least need to what is what. If you are familiar to that level you could easily clear this round, most of them will be able to clear this round very easily of course some of them will filtered out in this round and that is whole purpose of having this round.

The Next round is going to be final technical round, here they will test your depth in the subject, they just don't stop with questions of WHAT, they need answers for WHY questions as well. Suppose if you have answered a question for depreciation, they might ask why we use depreciation and they also concentrate more on differences like what is the difference between future and forward, debenture and debt, equity and debt etc. So here only few will get survived and those are the ones who will get the jobs.

So from starting if you see the one who keep in mind the last and do preparation accordingly will have edge in each round, he could clear multiple choice without confusion if he has deep knowledge in subject and give definitions very easily in second round and finally give answers for differences and in depth questions

So hope you got the key to success is dive deep while learning. All the best :)
